The BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) utilizes APBC members to form Paramedic Bike Squads, which are deployed in several locations around British Columbia.
Our bike squad members are utilized 24hrs a day, 7 days a week in the Vancouver International Airport - Station 270 - YVR. These squads are able to provide quick response to all areas of the airport and on-board arriving and departing aircraft. Squad members also become part of the Incident Command Structure (ICS) in the YVR Control Tower, in the event of a large scale airport response.
Under the umbrella of the Special Operations Team, bike squad members are often deployed at large scale public events. Squads are able to quickly navigate crowds and areas where an ambulance simply can not go. Some events our bike squads are utilized at are; Vancouver Celebration Of Light Fireworks, 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, parades, marathons, concerts, beach patrol and numerous other events.
