Emergency and Health Services Commission – BC Ambulance Service Bargaining Update

30 May '12

To:  All BCGEU Members at Emergency and Health Services Commission – BC Ambulance Service

Re: Bargaining Update

Bargaining in the Health Facilities Subsector commenced February 7, but as is the case at most other tables in the public sector, progress towards an agreement has been slow.

With our last two scheduled dates with negotiators for the Health Employer Association of BC being May 23 and 24, the employer finally, at the 11th hour, provided their concept proposal for the BCAS Administrative Unit, which is in keeping with their intention to fully integrate both BCAS collective agreements into the Facilities agreement.

The Union's position has been, and continues to be to achieve fair and reasonable improvements for our members. It is also our position that the existing BCGEU collective agreement which covers our members in the BCAS administrative unit be maintained as an appendix to the Facilities collective agreement.

Your bargaining representatives will meet in the coming weeks to discuss and prepare a response to the employer's proposal and will keep you posted with new developments.  Future bargaining dates are being discussed and will be confirmed at a later date.

To ensure you receive a copy of bargaining updates by providing a personal email address to the BCGEU here. If we already have an email address on file for you and you wish to edit or update any of your existing contact information, please send an email here.   Click here for PDF bulletin to post.
