As we conclude the 2015 National Paramedic Week, it is fitting to announce excellent news from a group of our very own BC Paramedics! On May 29, 2015 a team of paramedics from British Columbia attended the Rallye Rejiz International Medical Rescue Competition in the Czech Republic. 30 teams from 20 countries around the world competed in this world-class event. International teams representing their countries and professions attended from the Czech and Slovak Republics, Hungary, Estonia, Austria, Denmark, Great Britain, Slovenia, Switzerland, Poland, Greece, Ireland, USA, Japan, Turkey and New Zealand.
We are proud to announce that our Team Canada-BC Paramedics placed first, winning GOLD. The top teams on the podium were Canada Gold, Great Britian Silver and USA Bronze. The BC team is comprised of 3 critical care paramedics: Kevin Lambert, Chris Naples and Rico Ruffy. Supported by team manager, John Richmond; advanced care paramedic and Clarke McGuire; retired paramedic and international judge. APBC is also a proud supporter of the team and event. Congratulations to Team Canada-BC and to all of the competitors who attended.
Over the past week, we’ve recognized a few Paramedics from around British Columbia. Every day, Paramedics of every license level, both part time and full time, are on duty to serve British Columbia’s citizens. The union executive is proud to represent such a dynamic group of professionals, and we thank you for what you do every day. Each one of you, along with all others across Canada, should be proud to call yourself a Paramedic!
