Pay tribute to our fallen members, support our future ones.

Dear brothers and sisters.

On October 19 last year we lost two of our colleagues; Tofino paramedics Jo Ann Fuller and Ivan Polivka tragically passed away in the line of duty. The JIBC Foundation quickly established an EMS Memorial Fund endowment to recognize the paramedic profession and to honour people like Jo Ann and Ivan, and other paramedics who have passed away in the line of duty. The fund has received support from across the public safety profession and the community and at this date more than $20,000 has been raised for this endowment that will be used to support paramedic students.

I am writing to ask if you consider making a donation to the EMS Memorial Award in support of paramedic education at the JIBC in the years to come. Each year, paramedic students will be awarded funds that will go towards supporting their education costs. Many of us are graduates of the JIBC School of Health Sciences Paramedic Academy and we know how valuable that education was in preparing us to help people in our communities.

This new fund has been very well received. A number of our members have pledged their personal support and raised funds in memory of Jo Ann and Ivan. Please join me in making a contribution. You can do this by clicking this link, which gives more information on the award and how to make an online donation. I have also attached a donation form if you would prefer to respond by mail.

If you would like more information about the fund and the JIBC Foundation please call John Pennant at 604-802-8243, e-mail at jpennant@jibc.ca, or go to www.jibc.ca

Respectfully,
