UBC is conducting a research program whether there is a link in shift workers and development of breast cancer.

As development of breast cancer is most prevalent in the female population, UBC researchers are asking for female CUPE 873 employees between the ages of 40 – 65 that perform shift work to enter the program. This research program has all approvals in place and now accepting participant applications.

CUPE continues to look at ways to improve the health of our members, such as the just completed cardiac study, and now this partnership in research. A next phase will possibly focus on the male population and a link in our work to development of prostrate cancer.
Thank you, Garth.
