President’s Update “With your help, we’ve been able to highlight the major out of service issue in the public and media in recent weeks. We’ve been covered by all the major TV, radio and print outlets and the message has reached the citizens of BC. We will continue to highlight the situation and advocate for solutions, but we need your continued help. Please continue to send your out of service situation to oos@apbc.ca. Please be sure to include the dates, times and full shift / unit call sign.” 

Substance Use and Addictions Program Workshop “The Ambulance Paramedics & Emergency Dispatchers of BC hosted, in conjunction with the Paramedic Association of Canada (PAC) and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), a Substance Use and Addictions Program (SUAP) workshop. This workshop brought together a diverse group of health professionals, (paramedics, medical health officers and health leaders) researchers, people with lived experience and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) project managers.”
 
Letters of Expectation: Mandatory Training “It has come to the Union’s attention that the employer has issued Letters of Expectations (LOE) to members who have not taken the Caring for Patients with Mental Health Presentations course. The LOE’s were issued in the first week of March; three full weeks prior to the March 31, 2019 deadline to complete the course. ”   

Paramedic Ride 2019 “The registration for the BC Paramedic Ride 2019 has closed, but it is not too late to get involved! Check out who is riding in BC and place a donation on their behalf at https://paramedicride.ca/riders/.  The ride is also looking for volunteers, sign up at: https://paramedicride.ca/rides/british-columbia/volunteers/.”   

Regional Elections “Regional Elections begin April 2nd.  The following elections will be available online for members to vote: Regional Vice President for Region 1 North, Regional Vice President for Region 2 West and Regional Recording Secretary for Region 4.”
