Fallen Officer, Constable Da Silva

Dear Members,

Re:      Fallen Officer, Constable Da Silva

On May 5th, our public safety family lost a valued member when Vancouver Police Officer, Constable Pete Da Silva collapsed following a sudden medical emergency while on duty.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the family of the officer and everyone with Vancouver Police Department during this difficult time. As well, we have all our Dispatchers, Call takers and Paramedics who responded to this tragic call in mind.

The events of May 5th are tragic and can be overwhelming, especially given the physical and emotional toll the current pandemic is already taking on our members. Such loss can be difficult to process and elicit a strong emotional reaction, whether directly involved in the response, or not. There are support options available for any of our members in need of assistance.

Please do not hesitate to get support and use the resources available to you. If you see a colleague who you think may need support, reach out to them and/or make a referral to our Peer CISM Team. Again, the below supports are available to all members, whether on-duty during this event, or not.
