In Memory of Steve Williams
Re: In Memory of Steve Williams
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of former BCEHS paramedic and dispatch supervisor Steve Williams, who passed away on June 1, 2026, following a serious illness.
Steve retired in 2013 after 36 years with BCEHS. He took up being president of the BCAS 10-7 Association Society, an organization that supports retired BCEHS paramedics; this was something Steve was very passionate about. He also led the Fraser Valley chapter of the Pharoahs Car Club of BC, whose annual car show raised money for charity. And, of course, one of his favourite annual projects was working as Santa.
For those fortunate enough to have witnessed it, Steve brought something truly special to our former annual BCEHS Santa Flights. A professional Santa in every sense, Steve never hesitated to participate because, as he often said, the look on a child’s face when Santa walked through the door was more than enough to fill his heart for the rest of the year. To the sick children and families in hospitals across BC who were touched by those moments, his generosity was immeasurable.
Read the special feature on Steve, as part of the year-long 50th anniversary celebration of BCEHS.
Steve leaves behind his partner Deborah Cherry, his family, and a community of colleagues and friends whose lives are richer for having known him. He was, by every account, a remarkable human being: kind, warm, compassionate, and deeply committed to the people around him.
In keeping with the wishes of his family, flowers are respectfully declined. Instead, you can honour Steve’s memory by considering a donation to BC Children’s Hospital Foundation or any charity dedicated to the well-being of children.
On behalf of all of us at BCEHS and APBC, we extend our deepest condolences to Deborah, his family, and everyone whose life was touched by his kindness and service.
We will miss you, Steve. You made a difference.

Jointly Signed,
On behalf of APBC On behalf of BCEHS
