Secretary Treasurer’s Update “For anyone doing union shifts who has not already filled out a TD-1 form, you need to do provide the Union with completed forms.  If you are new to doing union shifts, you will be getting a call to provide your Social Insurance Number and birthdate – this information is required by Revenue Canada. “
 
Ceremonial Unit Spotlight: Meet David Hilder “Pipe Major (P/M) David Hilder began his piping career at an early age with the Courtenay Legion Pipe Band, under direction of P/M Sandy Stewart of Scotland. At the age of 18, David was appointed Pipe Major and during his service to the Royal Canadian Legion.”   

Collective Bargaining Update: Communications “With our next round of collective bargaining scheduled to start January 14th, 2019 it is important that all of our members have access to our communication platforms to stay up to date on our progress.  Ratification and strike votes (if necessary) will require members to access our website and secure voting system.”  

Bargaining without an Essential Service Order in Place “In order for a union to take job action in healthcare in BC, three conditions must be met: all other bargaining units must have their essential service levels established with the LRB, parties must have reached an impasse, and the Collective Agreement must have expired.”
