Kilo Guarantee Status – June 2020

Re:      Kilo Guarantee Status – June 2020

With the June 2020 scheduling deadline looming, I am compelled to inform members that despite considerable efforts by the Union, the Employer remains mute on the subject of ensuring Kilo Guarantee remains in effect through June; and until such time as the Employer implements Scheduled On-Call (SOC).

Based on the above we have a duty to inform you that, in the absence of a response from the Employer and insofar as we know, the Employer will not be continuing with the Kilo Guarantee into June. Consequently, we feel it is important for you to have this information so you can make an informed decision, based on your personal financial situation, about your availability to work in June.

We also wish to remind you any decisions members make regarding availability must be made individually. Availability and financial impact are entirely up to the individual based on your own your personal situation. Please refrain from posting your decisions or comments as they may be construed as advocating illegal job action.

Despite the foregoing, we are very aware of the issues and challenges all members face, including the precarious work and adverse working situations many of our on-call members face. I want you to know that, despite our best efforts falling upon the Employer’s deaf ears, we intend to continue our efforts to vigorously pursue this important issue on your behalf.

Finally, we will also continue to focus our energies to encourage the Employer to address the enormous problems with staffing and service models that primarily utilize an outdated on-call staffing model for a large portion of the province.

Sincerely,

Troy Clifford
