Member Update

Dear Members,

Re: Joint Release – Elimination of Fox staffing on Vancouver Island

Please see the attached joint memorandum which highlights new Full-time positions and the elimination of Fox shift staffing by March 31, 2022 which was a significant change included in the 2019-2022 Collective Agreement between the Ambulance Paramedics of BC and BCEHS.

As you know these changes may result in some Fox shifts being replaced with Full-time shift patterns while other Fox shifts may be replaced by Regular Part-time, Scheduled On-Call and/or Kilo shifts. The Union has expressed our concerns and disagreement with a number areas of the Employer’s plan highlighted in two key areas such as Cumberland and Central Saanich whereby they are decreasing service and access to timely high-quality Paramedic and Dispatch services.

BCEHS is now implementing these changes on Vancouver Island.  The aim is for these positions to be filled prior to offering new Scheduled On-Call (SOC) positions on Vancouver Island, where the SOC prototype is kicking off.

We are advised these new Full-time positions on Vancouver Island will be posted this week. All new Alpha positions will be posted with the ESA-compliant Alpha schedule that comes into effect on April 2nd.

Those interested in applying should continue to monitor the job postings area of the BCEHS intranet and follow the instructions indicated in the posting.

To discuss specific questions or concerns, please email towards2022@bcehs.ca or connect with your Union at info@apbc.ca.

On behalf of the Provincial Executive Board (PEB) and your Scheduled on Call (SOC) team.

Sincerely,

Troy Clifford
Provincial President
Ambulance Paramedics of BC
