President’s Update – Upcoming Elections
Dear Members,
With the provincial election fast approaching, I want to encourage every member to get out and speak to the candidates in your communities directly, so you can make informed decisions based on the facts and the best choice for you and your families. As well, I encourage all members to make sure they place their vote on, or before May 9th.
No matter what the outcome of the provincial election, I am confident in the resilience of the Ambulance Paramedics and Emergency Dispatchers of BC to persevere and continue to build on our profession with government.
I also want to take this opportunity to let you know that I will not be seeking re-election as President of the Ambulance Paramedics and Emergency Dispatchers of BC in October 2017.
It was extremely difficult for me to come to this decision, as I continue to have great passion, the utmost respect and dedication for the BC Paramedics, our Dispatchers and our profession. Despite this, I have also reflected on the fact that I have spent most of my adult life doing this important work for the Union and I believe the time is right to give a new leader the opportunity to continue advancing our strategic goals and priorities.
I have been honoured and privileged to represent our union and this profession in many capacities over the past 19 years. I have also appreciated the opportunity to work with many great individuals and organizations through our triumphs as well as some very difficult and challenging times. I have sincerely enjoyed my tenure and appreciate having had the opportunity to work with all of you. Thank you for your support, guidance, and encouragement that you have provided me during my time as President and as an officer of our Union. I intend to continue my advocacy for our professions, regardless of where life takes me.
In the interim, between now and Convention, I will be continuing in my role as your President, while also working to make the transition for the next President, who will be elected at convention 2017, a seamless process.
