Remembering Tony Sunderland – 33rd Anniversary

Dear Members,

Today is the 33rd anniversary of the tragic loss of Paramedic Tony Sunderland.

Tony Sunderland, 41, collapsed and died of a heart attack while attending to two critical patients from a motor vehicle accident near Endako, BC. Tony was the first British Columbia paramedic to die while on duty. He was married and had two sons.

Please take as moment to remember Tony and the nine other Paramedics who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line duty.

There is no time limit for grief, and although the intensity of emotions may lessen with time you may find the anniversary of a tragic event can evoke powerful memories and feelings.  We would like to remind members that the Peer Critical Incident Stress Management Team is available 24/7 by pager at 1-855-969-4321.

Sincerely,

Provincial Executive Board
Ambulance Paramedics & Emergency Dispatchers of BC
