Tom Manz Retirement

Dear Members;

Following convention, during our Provincial Executive Board meeting, Secretary Treasurer, Tom Manz announced his retirement.

For over twenty years Tom performed remarkably as an officer in our Union, serving in multiple roles and most notably as our Provincial Secretary-Treasurer. If one were asked to describe Tom they would not hesitate to say he is quick at learning, very dynamic, hard working and passionate about his work. He demonstrated his resourcefulness year after year as his management of our finances enabled the Union to take on new challenges.

Tom brought much more to the table then just his obsession with consistently keeping the bottom line in the black; he was a voice of reason that each member of the Executive would reach out to for his advice and opinion.

As a highly respected Advanced Care Paramedic, Tom was the first union member to represent our profession on the EMA Licensing Board. He was also a reliable and accomplished Unit Chief and Emergency Medical Dispatcher appreciated by all crew members.

Tom always brought the proud history of the local into all of our Executive’s deliberations while being a staunch advocate of the “because it’s the right thing to do” principle.  As a faithful friend and mentor, Tom has been responsible for the incredible financial growth of this local over the years through his humble and dedicated work.

While the decision to retire is not easy, I am sure Tom will prove to be as valuable an asset to his family and his grandchildren as he has been to the membership of our union for the past two decades.

In addition to wishing Tom a well-deserved healthy and prosperous retirement, we would also like to wish his wife, children and grandchildren all the best in this new chapter in the Manz family.

Tom, you are fondly known to the executive as the Grinch, but now it’s your turn to cash in all of those Grinch (Canadian tire) bucks on yourself.

Sincerely,

Bronwyn Barter

Provincial President
